Serviced Accommodations – meet Jeffrey Senay

Urban Flats Toronto is a leading provider of serviced accommodations. We’re proud of our experienced and attentive team. We continue our spotlight series on Jeffrey Senay, Guest and Accommodation Services. Jeffrey recently joined our team from a busy hotel in Toronto’s downtown core where he held  positions in service delivery and operations.

jeffrey_serviced_accommodationsJeffrey is our details guy, ensuring that the quality and cleanliness of our serviced accommodations are maintained to our high standards. He makes sure that every little unique thing about a guest’s stay in their suite is taken care of for them. From providing directions to assisting a guest with using their television at 10:00 pm at night, Jeffrey believes that helping with the little things make our guests feel more comfortable and at home in our furnished flats. We asked Jeffrey a few questions about the serviced accommodations industry and he had lots to share!

1. You’ve had a successful career working in the hospitality industry and now in service accommodations with Urban Flats Toronto. How do you define/describe customer service and what would you say is unique about the service you provide?

Customer service is more than just smiling and completing a transaction with a guest or customer. It is about going above and beyond, giving suggestions, listening, finding a solution and anticipating someone’s needs.

What I think is unique about the service I provide is that I understand what people are looking for when they are choosing a place to stay in Toronto. I take the time to listen to them and I try to find a solution that will ensure everyone will be happy. I am a customer as well as a service agent and I try to look at things from both sides.

Draper_Loft_Serviced_Accommodations_Toronto2. If you had to choose just one Urban Flats Toronto property as your short term accommodations, which would it be and why?

This is a very difficult question as each of our serviced accommodations has something that makes it special. I will admit that the first time I walked into the Draper Loft at 300 Front I said this is where I would want to stay. The Draper Loft is modern and chic and I would definitely be showing it off if I was staying there.

3. In your opinion, what are the main advantages of renting fully serviced accommodations in Toronto over staying in a hotel?

I feel the main advantages of serviced accommodations are:
-it is a home away from home;
-you have the chance to live like a local with the advantage of having someone to call for advice; and
-there are separate living areas: living room, kitchen and bedroom.

There are many other advantages but this is what makes the difference to me.

4. What are 3 places that you recommend guests visit in Toronto in order to get an authentic feel for the city?

Toronto is a great city and there is something to do pretty much anywhere you go. Three places that I suggest everyone visit from their serviced accommodations to experience the city are:

The Toronto Islands. I would suggest bringing a bike with you or renting a bike while you are there. It is a large island and you need to explore it all to get a true feel for it. Centre Island is the main attraction, especially for people with kids. There are beautiful gardens, a little carnival, and a great little beach. Wards Island is filled with fun, colourful houses and quiet beaches. Hanlan’s Point is a great place to have a picnic, or go to the beach away from the busy Centre island.

Kensington_Market_TorontoKensington Market and Chinatown. These two places go together, you cannot go to one without checking out the other. Kensington market is full of interesting shops, restaurants and markets. Chinatown is a great place to find great food, fresh produce and interesting shops.

The Distillery District.  This is the epitome of old Toronto. It is filled with restaurants, and cafes. It is a beautiful place to explore and it’s frequently used for festivals and events.
