Holiday_Fun_Toronto_Nathan_Phillips_SquareAre you looking to have some holiday fun Toronto style this holiday season? Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy the winter break like an Urban Flats Toronto native! Whether it’s the Nutcracker ballet, skating at Nathan Phillips square or cheering for your favourite team at the world junior hockey championships, Toronto has something you will enjoy.

Check out a classic Christmas tale:

The Nutcracker is pure pleasure to experience, both for children and adults. The ballet bursts with humour, surprise, emotion and best of all, brilliant choreography. It glides effortlessly from whimsy to bumptious comedy to awe-inspiring extravaganza to touching sentiment. Performed by the National Ballet of Canada at the Four Seasons Centre, Canada’s first and only purpose-built opera house, through January 3, 2015. For details click here.

Skate under the lights of Toronto:

A short stroll from our 140 Simcoe location, the famous ice rink at Nathan Phillips Square has been a quintessential Toronto experience for generations. It is set in the unique urban backdrop of sparkling lights and a large holiday tree. The 30th annual New Year’s Eve at Nathan Phillips Square will take place on Dec 31, 2014. It’s a variety show with musical and interactive exhibits. Residents and visitors will converge upon the square, with skating, sounds from a local DJ, live musical performances from top Toronto talent throughout the evening, a fleet of food trucks serving multicultural cuisine and fireworks to ring in 2015 at midnight!

Discover a future hockey star:

The 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship will be co-hosted in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre and in Montreal, Quebec. The tournament is a holiday season favourite and attracts top teams from 10 countries. It begins on December 26, 2014, and will end with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2015. This marks the first time that Toronto has hosted the WJHC and the city will host one Team Canada pre-tournament game, 10 preliminary round games, two quarter-finals, both semi-finals, relegation round games and the bronze medal and gold medal games.
